Project Application Types
HAL’s online application system has a number of application types to choose from:
R&D application

This application is for all projects relating to research or development activities  Research and development is defined as the systematic experimentation or analysis in any field of science, technology, economics or business carried with the object of acquiring knowledge that may be of use for the purpose of improving any aspect of the production, processing, storage, transport or marketing of horticultural products or applying knowledge for the purpose of improving any aspect of the production, processing, storage, transport or marketing of horticultural products.

For projects relating to consumer market research, please read "Matched Funding for Market Research."

R&D Levy matchable, R&D Levy unmatchable, VC matchable, VC unmatchable.

Industry Development Project application
Use this for projects involving industry skills development activities and technology transfer for example Industry Development Officers. Any type of funding (ie levy or VC matching) can be sought using this application.

Conference/Study Tour application
Use this for projects requesting funds for a conference or study tour.  Any type of funding (ie levy or VC matching) can be sought using this application.

Marketing application
Use this for projects for marketing activity (advertising, promotions, trade shows etc). Australian Government matching dollars cannot be sought for marketing activities. The only funding that can be sought in marketing applications is ‘Other Sources not managed by HAL’, ‘Marketing Levy Unmatchable’ and ‘VC unmatchable’.
